A few weeks ago I had a turning point in my art.  Yahoo!  I found myself struggling with landscape paintings.  I really do like painting landscapes, but it seems it's time to move in a new adventure. The first real art I did was way back in the 70's when I was a batik artist.  I even entered into the famous Mill Avenue Arts & Crafts fair in Tempe, AZ. Anyway, I have come to realize that I really love batik fabrics.  As a quilter, they are always being used and are very popular.  I spend many quiet moments looking through my quilt fabric catalogs and always get stuck on the batiks. So I decided to start some small painting with a batik/tie-dye look for the backgrounds.  Last summer I did some collages with this technique and it was a blast.  So I have returned to that idea and am so happy and excited with what I'm doing.  It's so liberating to do art that you really love instead of stuff you are forcing yourself to do and don't really enjoy it or the creativity is just not there. Here are a few pictures of how it's all turning out.

  2. LOVE THESE! I think this is really you. They're different, something that could sell, but I too love Batik - I always end up there in the fabric selections. I remember when you did Batik's YEARS ago. Keep it up.
